Today I would like to introduce you
to my new favorite advertising agency: TBWA Worldwide. With its headquarter located
right at Madison Avenue, New York City, TBWA has worked on so many wonderful
campaigns that I just can’t help but tell you some interesting facts about it.
TBWA was founded in 1970 in Paris,
France by William G. Tragos, Claude Bonnange, Uli Wiesendanger, and Paolo
Ajroldi. The agency's name was derived from the initials of the four founders'
last names.
TBWA Worldwide operates
internationally with 274 agencies in 100 different countries and about 11,000
employees. In the US, it operates under the name TBWA\Chiat\Day and has a
location in New York and in Los Angeles. TBWA provides several global marketing
services including for example design, sports sponsorship, customer
relationship management, corporate social responsibility, event marketing and
brand amplification.
It is part of Omnicom Group Inc.,
the world’s largest advertising agency holding company. Some of its most famous clients are adidas, Mc
Donald’s, P&G, Absolut Vodka, Nissan, Henkel and of course Apple. TBWA has worked
for Apple for about 30 years and is responsible for the “1984” Super Bowl spot
(aired in 1984),
the “I’m a Mac” series (ran from 2006 to 2009) and also for
the “Signature” spot (current spot, 2013).

Another campaign by TBWA that I
really like is the current series for the new Nissan Micra. When you watch
these commercials you get a feeling of the agency’s philosophy of “Disruption”,
meaning the challenging and overturning of the conventions of any marketplace.

I firmly encourage you to visit TBWA’swebsite and browse through their “Recent Work” section.
Some of the campaigns make you laugh, some appeal to your emotions, but they
are all creative and definitely disruptive.
